Over the years, our events have brought some of Nashville’s finest “hit makers” and rising artists to intimate island stages—names behind chart‑topping songs for artists like Morgan Wallen, Selena Gomez, Dierks Bentley, Lainey Wilson, and more—while always keeping the focus on storytelling, connection, and the craft of songwriting. From sold‑out nights at The Strand and lively sets at The Ritz in Oak Bluffs to pop‑up shows across the Island during Tivoli Day, we’ve worked to create experiences where audiences don’t just hear the songs, they hear the stories, the road miles, and the personal moments that shaped them. Even after a six‑year hiatus, the songwriting festival’s return proved how deeply this kind of musical gathering resonates with the Vineyard community, reaffirming our belief that there is a special place here for songwriters and fans who value authenticity over spectacle.

Rooted in the vision of organizer Matt Casey and the New England to Nashville community, MVS has always been more than a series of shows—it’s a bridge between creative worlds. From its early days as small workshops in a family home in West Tisbury and listening‑room rounds in Oak Bluffs, the festival grew into a multi‑day experience spanning Boston and the Island, with classes, critiques, and writer rounds that demystified both the art and business of commercial songwriting. We honor that history by keeping our events intentionally human‑scaled, focused on meaningful interaction rather than massive crowds, and by relying on local support rather than major corporate sponsorship to make sure the music—and the people who create it—remain at the center. Rising artists and established writers share the same stages, answer audience questions, and linger after shows, turning brief encounters into mentorship moments and lasting friendships. For us, an “about us” story is really about the communities we connect: Nashville and New England, locals and visitors, seasoned professionals and first‑time writers, all gathering on a beautiful Island at the end of summer to celebrate songs, stories, and the shared experience of live music.
